Fun with lettering / by Esther Loopstra

The more that I get into my 100 day project of sketching food and lettering on Instagram, the more I am blown away by how doing something so very simple like drawing food and practicing lettering is changing and invigorating my illustration. I tell my students that drawing in your sketchbook every day is a good way to refine your style and get new ideas and this is proof! Simply having to come up with different ways of seeing and creating something new every day is helping me to think outside the box and I can see my hand lettering taking on a whole new life. You can see some of my sketches and recipes below. What could you benefit from doing just a little bit of every day?

This walnut banana bread is insanely good! It's mostly Paleo (except for the chocolate chips that I like to put in it!) gluten free and dairy free. Here is the recipe

I do try to eat as low carb as I can, even though I do cheat (see above, and many other posts) I like to get a good protein packed breakfast in. These mini quiches are easy to make and also make a great snack! Here is a great recipe

I just got a new cast iron skillet so I am very into searing everything! I picked up some fresh Halibut and then made some collards with mushrooms in plenty of butter, yum!
